"The Needs of the One... "
by Gary Christensen

Star Trek fans (affectionately known as "Trekers") might recognize the title of this article, taken from a line in the Star Trek feature film, "The Search for Spock" wherein the entire crew determines to "risk their lives and careers" to do whatever it takes to find their lost crew member, Mr. Spock. They do "questionable" things; they ignore the commands of their superiors; they endanger the lives of others, all to find Mr. Spock, because "The Needs of the One outweigh the needs of the Many."

It seems in the future "The needs of the One" will be primary. On a recent episode of the TV series "Voyager" the entire ship fights to save a fellow crew member, Seven-of-Nine (that's her name!) .. a rescued member of their fiercest enemy, The Borg!

The Salvation Army, otherwise known as "The Bell Ringers" during the Christmas season, was started by William Booth, who's credited with preaching the shortest sermon on record. When he was given the opportunity to send "a word or two" by telegraph, to his many followers, and after thinking a moment, wrote down one word, and it was sent, and the meaning was understood.

That one word spoke volumns to his listeners. That one word was and is what the Salvation Army is all about; That one word is what his followers needed to think about and work for and believe in. The one word which he sent was simply "Others!"

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of Others? Many MLM companies speak of the Benefits of their products and how Others can benefit from their use! Their campaigns always focus on how THEIR plan will benefit OTHER Marketers the most. Do you want to make a difference; do you want to help others? "Help others to succeed,.. and YOU will succeed in the process!"

Maybe the Future is here now! These articles I write are meant to help others! If you scratch the back of one other, as he scatches the back of the person in front of him, and she scratches the back of another, and on and on,.. everyone gets his or her back scratched! If everyone just works on scratching their OWN backs, others will be ignored, because each of us is only focusing on our own needs and not on the needs of others! After all, either you are helping yourself,.. or you are helping others! Remember what Jesus said, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

My customers have needs. Are THEIR needs more important than my OWN needs? Do I close up shop, to take my lunch, while my customers are standing outside in the rain, waiting for me to open back up? Am I more important than my customers?

One of the nicest things about the Internet, is that it allows me to help others at little or no cost:

1.) Giving advice or assistance without cost. I offer free advice; free guidence; free consultation, at anytime, to anyone who sends me an e-mail. I keep all my "resources" in one file, in one message. If someone wants to know where a certain site is, I send them my Resource File! If someone wants to know how to contact another person on the Internet, I send them my Resource File!

2.) I give Free Listings to Writers and to Publishers. My site lists the e-mail addresses of various Writers and Publishers. Anyone who needs to contact one of them, can visit my site to get their address. I do not charge for listings, nor for any of the info at my site.

3.) Subscriptions to my Newsletters are free for the asking. There is no subscription fee charged to my subscribers. When I put out a new issue, I e-mail it free to everyone on my list. If someone doesn't want it any longer, I take them off of my list.

4.) My Free Reports are available to anyone who wants them. Of my 100+ Reports (which I sell for $1. each, or the entire file for $28.) there are about 18 Reports that I offer FREE! I place ads and offer ONE Report Free in each ad. When requests come in, I send each person that one free report. (Yes, I do want to make sales and I send each person a list of my 100, in case they want to buy all of them.) But, some of my Reports are offered Free for the asking! I can do this on the Internet, because to be on-line only costs me only $24.95 a month. For that one fee I have unlimited access. I can spend 24 hours a day on-line, and it still only costs me $24.95 a month! I can send 100,000 e-mail messages per month and I still only pay that one small fee each month.

I am NOT living completely for others. I still take care of many of my own needs. But my focus is on helping to meet the needs of others. I am determined that my customers will be satisfied; their needs will be met, and I also believe that when I do that, my own needs will be met in the process.

(Above article was written by Gary Christensen, a self-published author of 8 books & over 100 Reports, like this one. His latest Free Report is "Are customers driving in, or driving by?" Gary will circulate your 2 page Article or News Release to 90 Publishers for just $28.00! Write him at: 2601 N.E.
