Back in 1973 when I started looking for some products to sell, I began by answering a number of ads that I saw in some Newsstand magazines like Popular Mechanix, and others. I sent off a buck here, $5. there,.. another $15. there (that one was for a "Mail Order Manual").

I began reading all this "information" that I had received, and started learning the basic facts about "how to advertise and sell products to others." I was looking for something that I was INTERESTED in selling; something that I would ENJOY; something I could get EXCITED about! I thought if I didn't personally LIKE the products I was selling, maybe I wouldn't BE SOLD on them, and I therefore wouldn't be good at selling them to others!

While searching for something to sell, I noticed that what I HAD BOUGHT were "How-To, Informational Reports and Books!" (I soon had a Pile of 39 different Books or Reports that had come from all those ads that I had responded to!) These were Books about "Selling Products by Mail" .. and .. "How to advertise and Promote Products to others" .. and many other titles! They were all good resources, and I leared a lot from reading them! Was THIS what was the most popular? If I had sent off money to get all this information, wouldn't others ALSO send money for some of these same kinds of "Information" products?

About that same time, I had started putting together a "List of Qualifiers" to help me to KNOW for sure, when I DID find some good, possible products. If a product was of interest to me, I would "check it against the list of qualifiers." On my list of qualifers (for a Perfect Product) were: (1) It must be Lightweight; to save on cost of mailing; (2) It should be Reasonably Small in size; (Not too big or bulky); (3) It should be a Popular & Wanted item,.. or I wouldn't sell very many! (4) It should be Durable; Not an item that easily Spills; Spoils or Breaks; (5) It should NOT be a Dated, or a fad item; It should be a good seller now & 10 years from now! (6) It should be Low in cost to produce; and (7) it should allow you a nice profit, of 2 to 10 times your costs!

I looked over the Booklets that I had bought from several sources. They looked fairly simply put together. I thought I could do the same. I could write down my thoughts, my ideas, my knowledge, get them printed and sell them to still others! I realized that Reports and booklets MET all the Qualifications: They were Lightweight; Small in size; They were Popular; They couldn't Spill; Spoil or Break! Information isn't Dated; low in cost to produce and they allowed a very nice margin of profit! Since 1973, I have been doing just this very thing; Putting my thoughts down; Typing them up, Getting them printed, Advertising them and Selling them to others! I've now written 8 Books, and 90 Reports. Some of my Reports make up portions of my 8 books! A couple of my books sell for $24. or $29. - They cost me just $8. or $9. to fill each one,.. the other $15. or $20. is profit!

INFORMATION is the PERFECT mailorder product! And also, since 1991 when I got my computer and modem, I've been marketing these SAME products via the Internet. After all, an Information Product is the best thing to market over the Information super highway! I've been asked this question several times: "Gary, why do you sell Booklets and Reports to others by mail?" Maybe what they're REALLY asking is: "How can you possibly make ANY money selling small $1.00 and $2.00 Reports to others?" I sell them mainly because:

(1) I enjoy selling "How-to" information to others;
(2) Informational Booklets and Reports are easy to write & produce;
(3) It takes very little money to produce several good booklets or reports;
(4) It's an easy item for someone to begin selling by mail;
(5) People DO NEED, AND WILL BUY THEM;
(6) They are Quick Money-Makers; they get orders coming in fast!
(7) They are small, lightweight and fit easily into a # 10 Envelope! And,
(8) There are many subjects or topics upon which you can write.

I've found that most People will quickly send you $1. or $2., but will hesitate if they must send you $20. or $30.!! It may not seem like it, but, I will probably make MORE sales, and deal with MORE buyers, while I'm earning my Million, then someone who sells only $20. and $30. items!! AND I think I'll have more fun doing it, too!!
