If you use Traffic Equalizer or Directory Generator you know that a good quality keyword list is critical when targeting your audience. You’ll also want a large number of keywords to maximise the spread of your website. You often start out with a list of perhaps 500 keywords. Not bad you might think, but could be better. What you need is a tool that will expand your keyword lists.

You could use a keyword shuffler to expand your keyword lists, and they work well. That’s why I decided to include that as a function in Keyword Evolution. But this often leaves you with phrases rarely, if ever, searched on. The last thing you need is a website that’s just gets too big too quickly. Google might ban your site if it suddenly grew too fast. Why risk including pages that human eyes will never see?

Let me give you an example.
Suppose you take the phrase “New York Gym Equipment”. You shuffle the phrase and end up with;

Equipment Gym New York
Equipment Gym York New
Equipment New Gym York
Equipment New York Gym
Equipment York Gym New
Equipment York New Gym
Gym Equipment New York
Gym Equipment York New
Gym New Equipment York
Gym New York Equipment
Gym York Equipment New
Gym York New Equipment
New Equipment Gym York
New Equipment York Gym
New Gym Equipment York
New Gym York Equipment
New York Equipment Gym
New York Gym Equipment
York Equipment Gym New
York Equipment New Gym
York Gym Equipment New
York Gym New Equipment
York New Equipment Gym
York New Gym Equipment

Your list has now grown, but how many of those phrases make any sense at all? A better question is, how many of those phrases are actually searched on? Very few I’d say.

Sure, some phrases will make sense “Looking for the latest New York Gym Equipment?” is fine, but what about “Looking for the latest York Gym Equipment New?”. The last example is hardly readable, and screams to the reader, “MACHINE GENERATED WEBSITE”. You stand a good chance of being reported to Google or Yahoo. Do you really want to risk it?

If you’re playing the numbers games, word shuffling is one way to go.

A more intelligent way to expand your list would be to think about what people might be searching for. So taking in the example above, if somebody is searching to “New York Gym equipment” there is a good chance that somebody else is searching for “Texas Gym equipment” or “Washington Gym equipment”. So from the root keyword, you could expand it by another 49 keywords if you used all state names. They all make sense.

You could also convert “New York Gym equipment” to “New York Gym” and “New York Gymnasium”. One single keyword phrase has now organically grown to 150. Each and every phrase makes absolute sense and reads well. Remember, this is just one phrase, how big would your 500-keyword list expand to? And that’s using just the names of states. Think how big your list would grow if you included cities too? Remember, these are all readable.

Clearly, editing your keyword list to expand them, then sub- nicheing them takes a lot of time and effort if done by hand. But with the new version of keyword Evolution Pro, this task is much, much easier. Keyword Evolution Pro now has a new powerful function. “Lookup and Replicate”. Point KEPro at a list of alternatives (as a secondary text file on your PC) and watch your keyword list grow organically. This is the secret of how I took a list of 1400 keyword phrase, and expanded it to 54,000. I can now sub-niche that list to about 1000 Keywords per state plus a few generic keyword phrases. Much better, don’t you think?

You’re not limited to states; I just used that as an example. It’s almost like having a Head Librarian working on your list, except of course; you decide what words or sub- phrases are expandable.
