You really Can’t Do It Alone!
By: Tyler McKinna

No matter what anyone tells you, nobody is a self-made success!

Now, as much as that may shock some of you as you point to first generation wealth builders like Bill Gates or Mark Cuban; I can assure you, they definitely did not become successful all alone.

Even the most ingenious person in the world cannot make a cent off of a great idea or invention if there is no market or if there is no product. What is even more tragic is when there is a great product that an established market doesn’t know about!!!

It is necessary for even the savviest of businessmen to engage in joint ventures and partnerships for the greater good of both parties. Every great business and every great business person has been engaged in this “back scratching” behavior somewhere along the road to riches.

Creating partnerships with reputable people or organizations can be the catalyst for a new company to take the next step in the marketing spectrum and become a household name. This is effectively creating an association between the established brand and the new product or service.

A recent example of this is the collaboration between Anheuser Bush and Hansen Natural. Hansen Natural is the maker of trendy energy drinks and has burst onto the scene in the Southwestern United States over the past few years. They have recently partnered with Anheuser Bush (Makers of Budweiser) to take the next step in making their product a household name. They are hoping that the association with a reputable brand like “Bud” will give them the marketing and communications springboard to the market and drive their sales to the next level! I guess we will have to wait and see!!!

As much as we depend on finance and like to “crunch the numbers”; nothing is more important to me when building a successful business than marketing and communications. It has been said that not marketing is like “winking in the dark… you know that you’re doing it, but nobody else does”.
