What’s the deal with all those Giveaway sites, they seem to be all over the internet these days?

Yes, there are a lot of giveaway sites around, some are good and others are utter garbage. The purpose of this article is to guide you through the jungle and teach you a little about the nature of this phenomenon.

Why are they giving all this stuff away for free?

A Giveaway site is usually membership based meaning that you have to sign up using your email address and name in order to reach the download area, thus the webmaster will be building his list. On top of that there is usually some sort of “one time offer” or up sell, allowing the site to generate revenue.

Why isn’t it only the webmaster that promote the site then?

That’s because giveaway sites usually operate on a “joint venture” basis. What this means is that several marketers have contributed to the free gifts and in turn they have a chance to build their list and earn a cut of the commissions. Often you will also see regular members (not JV partners) promoting a giveaway site. No they have not gone completely insane, they do it because they too can earn commissions.

How you can benefit from the Giveaway craze...

Basically there are three ways you can work the giveaways site to your advantage.

The obvious approach is to join a site and download the free gift you are interested in. This can be ebooks, reports, software etc. and often things you can use in your day to day internet marketing.

My advice is that you look for products that have some form of resell or rebrand rights, that way you can sell them on for profit. Another trick is to look for products with giveaway rights, get you hands on those and you can take the step up to JV partner when the next giveaway launches.

Once you are a member you can promote your affiliate link to earn commissions. You are offering people something for free and lets face it, it’s much easier to give than to sell. People will think of you as the nice guy with the free offer and the site will take care of the up sell, hopefully putting some money in your pockets.

Another good approach is to use the giveaways as a bonus. The giveaways are usually by invitation only. Use this to your advantage and give the invitations away as bonus for joining your list or program. This will increase the perceived value of your offer and again potentially earn you some nice commissions.

Your third option and this is the one you should aspire towards is to become a JV partner in a giveaway. You get both the income opportunity and the free gifts listed above, but on top of that you will also be able to build your list.

JV partnership is usually also by invitation only, should you stumble across such an invite you should jump at the opportunity. Just to show you how powerful this can be let me give you an example...

This spring I got a JV invite for a site called The Easter Giveaway, it was very successful so you might have heard about it. (if you do a Google search on JV Giveaway it will still occupy most of the top ten spots even though the site was shut down over a month ago).

Anyway, I purchased an ebook package for $10, made a lead capture page and a download page. I then submitted my package to the site and sent an ad with my JV partner link to all the safelists I’m a member of. Three weeks later I had 1.500 new subscribers to my list, yes you read that right 1.500 subscribers for $10 and 2 hours of work. That got me hooked on the JV Giveaway phenomenon and hopefully you can see why.

Good luck with your own giveaway marketing...
